HighRes helps scientists accelerate such research areas as drug discovery, high-throughput genotyping, siRNA screening, next-generation sequencing sample prep, biorepository science, molecular diagnostics, and more. We offer highly flexible, expandable and modular integrated systems, bench-top devices and consumables that are easily configured (and reconfigured) for fast-paced, dynamic laboratories.

 

The Internal Applications Specialist will be based from our headquarters in Massachusetts. They will perform duties in support of our project delivery, sales and marketing and customer service functions for HighRes’ automated laboratory instrumentation. This is a hands-on role in a highly visible function within HighRes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop methods on automated laboratory instruments (including HighRes’ Prime and robotic systems) to meet customer applications according to a defined specification and project schedule
  • Perform robotic/instrument teaching and hardware configuration checks
  • Verify system assemblies (pneumatics, communications etc)
  • Develop test plans and work those plans at HighRes’ headquarters
  • Provide method and applications support to our existing customers via our online help-desk
  • Produce material for customer training sessions and conduct them via webinars and in-person sessions
  • Work with our sales and marketing team to scope new applications and produce data for use in application notes and posters
  • Evaluate customer application requests to allow accurate cost and feasibility estimates for our sales team
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of industry application trends

Qualifications

  • Technical Background – BSc degree in Scientific/Engineering/IT discipline.
  • Minimum two years’ industrial/laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on experience with automated liquid handling devices, including requirements gathering and method development from scratch
  • Experience of automated lab instruments in a high throughput screening, compound management, secondary screening, high content biology, genomics, cell culture or research automation setting
  • Experience with MS Office suite
  • Experience with scripting and/or a programming language is a plus
  • Experience with scheduling software for automated laboratory systems is a plus 
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to overcome unforeseen challenges quickly and effectively
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a team
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Flexible work style and ability to adapt to customer requirements
  • A willingness or demonstrated aptitude for hands-on task
  • Occasional travel to customer sites up to 5-10%
  • Domestic and international travel is possible, passport required
