Overview

We love automation. For nearly ten years we’ve been designing and building innovative robotic systems and laboratory devices for a wide variety of clients. HighRes helps scientists accelerate such research areas as drug discovery, high-throughput genotyping, siRNA screening, next-generation sequencing sample prep, biorepository science, molecular diagnostics, and more. We offer highly flexible, expandable and modular integrated systems, bench-top devices and consumables that are easily configured (and reconfigured) for fast-paced, dynamic laboratories.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Developing software (device drivers) for integrating laboratory devices with robotic systems.  We use C# however all candidates with a background in object oriented programming are welcome!  We will ramp you up.
  • Configure system databases and software.
  • Implement robotic systems per Functional Design Specification.
  • Teach robotic platforms and system configuration.
  • Verify system assembly (pneumatics, communications, etc.).
  • Develop and perform test plans at HighRes and client sites.
  • Interface with customers for requirements, testing and training.

Qualifications

  • Technical Background – BSc degree in IT/Engineering/Scientific discipline.
  • Minimum one year industrial experience is desirable. Candidates with other demonstrable relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Basic/Intermediate C#, object oriented programming.
  • Basic/Intermediate networking set-up and management.
  • Basic/Intermediate computer communications (TCP/IP, RS232).
  • Basic/Intermediate relational databases (Oracle and Access)
  • Previous experience working with lab automation devices and systems is desirable
  • Excellent problem solving skills, required to overcome unforeseen challenges quickly and effectively.
  • A self-starter, able to work effectively both as a team member and individually during offsite installation tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid UK driving license
  • Travel up to 50%.
  • Domestic and international travel, passport required
  • The new recruit will receive full training in our system technologies.
