HighRes helps scientists accelerate such research areas as drug discovery, high-throughput genotyping, siRNA screening, next-generation sequencing sample prep, biorepository science, molecular diagnostics, and more. We offer highly flexible, expandable and modular integrated systems, bench-top devices and consumables that are easily configured (and reconfigured) for fast-paced, dynamic laboratories.

 

The Applications Specialist – Laboratory Automation has two core responsibilities. Firstly, to work with our Sales Managers to support the development of new business within this region. This will include in-depth analysis of customer RFPs, design of technical solutions and presentations/demonstrations to support this process. Secondly, to work with current customers to ensure all elements of their systems are meeting specifications; this may include assistance with project planning, acceptance testing or support.

The position is educational, demanding, and rewarding, with significant scope for role expansion based on success in this region. The candidate will be comfortable with travel within UK and mainland Europe, consisting of up to 30% of the year. Typical visits are 1 to 2 days in duration.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse customer requests for proposals and design the optimal technical solution in liaison with the Regional Sales Manager. Including protocol/throughput analysis, instrument specification and system layout review.
  • Compose in-depth technical response documents and provide presentations to support the sales process
  • Deliver general company presentations and product/software demonstrations to support the development of new business in Europe
  • Work with Project Managers to ensure accurate deployment of systems in post-sales phase
  • Assist with the development of client methods to run on our robotic systems.
  • Participate in conferences/exhibitions with sales team.
    • Produce application notes, posters and webinars to promote new capabilities to customers.
    • Maintain up to date knowledge of industry application trends.

Qualifications

  • Technical Background – BSc degree in Scientific/Engineering/IT discipline.
    • Minimum five years industrial experience.
    • Experience in automated laboratory systems and devices in a high throughput screening, compound management, drug discovery, or research automation setting
  • Experience with scheduling software for automated laboratory systems is a plus
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, customer service and conflict resolution skills
    Additional Requirements:
    • Travel up to 30%.
    • Domestic and international travel, passport and driving licence required
