The Systems Production Engineer will be an important member of the systems manufacturing team.  They will lead builds of complex systems in an exciting hands-on environment.  They will develop and maintain methods, processes, documentation and equipment necessary to achieve manufacturing and quality objectives.  In this role, employees are expected to lead, educate and train the systems production area on various processes.  The incumbent must be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment to reach common objectives with aggressive schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electro-mechanical assembly of standalone components/devices into a robotic system configuration of different complexities:
    • Interpret system drawings for assembly
    • Inspect parts/assemblies for defects
    • Perform advance wire harnessing to/from electrical panels
    • Proficient in mechanical assembly using various hand tools
  • Lead teams of technicians to provide successful, on time system builds
  • Coordinate training for production. Mentor less experienced technicians
  • Develop standards to improve efficiency and accuracy of project execution
  • Provide troubleshooting to custom configuration builds
  • Able to drive schedule attainment
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Devise new solutions to existing manufacturing problems
  • Perform root cause analysis with implementation of corrective action.
  • Perform inspection and in-process measurements
  • Define and document calibration and maintenance requirements of all manufacturing fixtures and equipment.
  • Develop and document instrument manufacturing requirements, including SOP’s, fixtures, tools and processes.
  • Work with manufacturing leader and manufacturing personnel to develop suggestions for manufacturability recommendations.
  • Support manufacturing leader and peers by anticipating problems, providing input on solutions, reacting productively to change and handling other tasks as assigned.
  • Responsible for upkeep of manufacturing areas
  • Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Be vigilant in identifying & preventing any potential safety concerns
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical preferred
  • 1 to 5+ years of manufacturing experience, which includes knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly and test. Electrical aptitude for cable, PCB, and other electrical assemblies preferred.
  • Support the comprehensive continuous improvement philosophy for all disciplines.
  • Good critical thinking and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to create technical documentation (e.g., Process Flows, Work Instructions, Travelers, Training Documents, etc.).
  • Can-do attitude, strong initiative, highly collaborative and accountable.
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task and react quickly and professionally in high stress situations
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and direction and be productive in a team environment
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Lean experience and Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications including Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and MRP/ERP systems. SolidWorks experience a plus.
  • ISO9001 experience a plus
  • Willingness to contribute outside of defined job description when necessary.

Working Conditions:

 

  • Work is in the manufacturing shop floor area.
  • Ability to move or lift equipment/product up to 50 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to work in restricted spaces, occasionally kneeing, sitting and laying down
