    HighRes is expanding its global sales, applications and services organizations to increase focus on our current and future clients’ needs.



    We are looking for a Global Applications Manager to be based full-time from our Headquarters in Beverly, MA. This role will have management responsibility for our global team of Applications Specialists (covering pre- and post-sales functions). As well as working closely day to day with a team of Applications Specialists to ensure the quality of the team’s output, the role will also take ownership for setting the future goals for the department, including process improvements and alignment with strategic company objectives.


    Location Note: The individual will be located full-time from our Beverly, MA office with travel as required to fulfil job responsibilities (10-20% average across a year).


    • Manage a team of pre- and post-sales Applications Specialists across North America and Europe (including project assignment, training/development, personnel issues and reviews).
    • Be highly technically capable to be able to oversee and also independently perform (as-required) the following:
    • Analyse customer requests for proposals and design the optimal technical solution in liaison with the Regional Sales Manager. Including protocol/throughput analysis, instrument specification and system layout review for our full range of automated solutions.
    • Compose in-depth technical response documents and provide presentations and product/software demonstrations to support the sales process
    • Work with Project Managers to ensure accurate deployment of systems in post-sales phase
    • Development and troubleshooting of methods on automated laboratory instruments (including HighRes’ Prime and robotic systems), to meet customer applications according to a defined specification and project schedule
    • Participate in conferences/exhibitions with sales team.
    • Produce application notes, posters and webinars to promote new capabilities to customers.
    • Maintain up to date knowledge of industry application trends.
    • Set and deliver strategic goals to optimize the output of the Applications department
    • Track employee resource utilization and provide accurate headcount forecasts to senior management
    • Prepare project schedules according to customer requirements and available resources
    • Coordinate implementation activities to meet the defined project schedules
    • Consult with R&D, product managers, and scientific leaders, as needed, to help review user requirements and define project scope


    • Technical Background – Bachelor’s degree in Scientific/Engineering/IT discipline.
    • Minimum eight years industrial experience required
    • Prior experience in personnel management is required
    • Expertise with scheduling software for automated laboratory systems is a must
    • Expertise with control software for automated liquid handling systems is a must
    • Experience with scripting and/or a programming language is a plus
    • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in developing applications for automated robotics systems and devices for drug discovery, sample management, genomic research or cell biology workflows is a must
    • Experience taking scientific bench protocols from the bench to the robot is preferred
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, customer service and conflict resolution skills
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to overcome unforeseen challenges quickly and effectively
    • Exceptional attention to detail and initiative/drive to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the department’s overall output.

    Additional Requirements

    • Typical travel across a year, 20% to fulfil job duties as required
