    The Manufacturing Engineer will develop and maintain methods, processes and equipment necessary to achieve manufacturing and quality objectives.  They will work with engineering to specify, build, test, and challenge new and existing product designs to improve efficiency, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, and cost.   The incumbent must be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment to reach common objectives with aggressive schedules.

     

    Reports to Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

    Responsibilities

    • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout
    • Assures product and process quality by establishing standards and improving test methods
    • Provides manufacturing decision-making information for calculating production cycle times, labor requirements and materials cost
    • Provide support for assembly and/or test troubleshooting
    • Drives engineering change orders for existing products
    • Devise new solutions to existing manufacturing problems
    • Represents manufacturing on cross functional teams
    • Familiar with inspection and measurement techniques
    • Assume a lead role in the instrument sub-assembly out-source program. Meet company timing and out-source objectives.  Manage the transfer of technology to out-source partners by establishing the qualification and validation of manufacturing processes within their facility.
    • Responsible for working with Materials Management to optimize material costs through vendor analysis, quality, schedule, cost evaluation, etc. 
    • Define and document calibration and maintenance requirements of all manufacturing fixtures and equipment.
    • Develop and document instrument manufacturing requirements, including SOP’s, fixtures, tools and processes.
    • Assists manufacturing leader with root cause analysis and development of corrective actions for failures.
    • Support manufacturing leader and peers by anticipating problems, providing input on solutions, reacting productively to change and handling other tasks as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Industrial, Process or Manufacturing Engineering, advance degree preferred
    • 5-8 years of manufacturing engineering experience, which includes knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly and test
    • Can-do attitude, strong initiative, highly collaborative and accountable.
    • Must possess the ability to multi-task and react quickly and professionally in high stress situations
    • Able to work with minimal supervision and direction and be productive in a team environment.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skills
    • Lean experience and Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
    • Must be able to understand the role in the overall business process and appropriately support all organizations.
    • Ability to run and interpret standard reports.
    • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications including Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and MRP/ERP systems. SolidWorks experience a plus.
    • Knowledge of product data management and Bills of Materials.
    • ISO9001 experience is a plus.
    • Willingness to contribute outside of defined job description when necessary.

    Working Conditions:

    • Local candidates preffered
    • Work is split between a general office setting and the manufacturing shop floor area.
    • Occasionally drive/fly to vendor or customer locations as needed.
    • Ability to move or lift equipment/product up to 50 lbs. on occasion
